IRRESISTABLE

Hi Everyone

Today I would like to share my 2nd ever mixed media layout... I have been inspired by all the wonderful mixed media artist everywhere including our very mixed media guru's.. I am fairly happy with it but would love your feedback.

I first created my mixed media background with texture paste, embossing powder, stamps, spritz, walnut ink and gesso....Then I cut a strip of matching pattern paper and used 2 borders from the Couture Creations Momento Lace Die Chandeleirs Set. down each side. after touching them with a bit of gesso and chocolate embossing powder.

Then I tucked a ruffle underneath the bottom of the strip and under my photograph.
To make the ruffle I simply cut a Couture Creations Momento Lace Die Cappuccino and cut into the centre and around the edge of the first detail. then spritzed it with water to soften the fibres.

then I gently gathered the inner edge being careful not to fold the outer edge.

By gathering the inner edge your Lace die will become straight... Let your ruffle dry and run some Couture Creations Double Sided Tape along the gathered edge.

I added some gesso to the ruffle before adding to my Layout.
I did the same to my photograph to add some interest (not that my darling daughter is not interesting!)

I then added some flowers and used some Couture Creations Adhesive Gemstones and Pearls to make the centres pretty...

I then used the Couture Creations Secret Treasure Honeycomb Strip to add some honeycomb shapes around my Layout and complemented them with some Imaginarium Designs Chipboard Nested Hexagons and some stickers.

Quick Card

Hi Everyone
So very excited to be back with Couture Creations and to be working with some extremely talented designers. Just a quick one from me today. Loving the new Momento Ornamental Lace Dies...
I made this card recently for a good friend of mine that is about to have twins...God Bless her...

I started with a 5x7 card base and distressed the edges by rubbing the edge of my Couture Creations Precision Non Stick Scissors back and forth to rough them up and then I inked the edges.

I repeated this technique on all my pattern papers as well. I then cut the Cappuccino Lace Die from the Momento Collection from matching Core'dinations Cardstock.

after cutting the Lace die with the help of the Couture Creations Metal Adaptor Mat (OMG I love this metal mat... My machine is a little tired and the rollers sometime do not give me enough pressure and my dies do not cut right through but this mat fixes all my problems yay!) I then embossed with the die using the Couture Creations Universal Embossing Mat, this left the most exquisite detail, take a look!

I inked the edges and using a Couture Creations Sponge Dauber I inked the detail as well, stamped a sentiment in the middle and then placed it on my card.
I then added some pre made flowers using the Couture Creations 3D Glue Spots to give them a little lift. (look how thick these glue spots are!! awesome!)

I added some greenery with the Couture Creations Secret Treasures Aurora Vine. Cutting them down and slipping them behind the flowers.

Thanks for dropping by the blog today and don't forget to enter our awesome giveaway!!
And if your in Brisbane, join Kerrie Gurney and I at Photo Continental in May for some Couture Creations classes!
No...no dress up at this one! (sad face)

Cheers

HANGING SPOON

Hi Creators

I was walking around a homemaker shop a couple of weeks ago and picked a large wooden spoon for a couple of $$ and decided it needed a face lift before I hung it my kitchen. So with a little help from Couture Creations and some blackboard paint, I now have a cute little blackboard for my kitchen. I think  I am going to write one of my daughters sight words on each week so she sees it on every visit to the kitchen and it will hopefully help her remember the words.

I started by painting the spoon the desired colour and then white washing it. I then painted the ladle end with blackboard paint and let dry.

I then wrapped some hessian around the handle with some natural fibre, ribbon and bow.
Then I made some small roses to embellish it with. To make the roses I did the following.

From the Couture Creations Secret Treasures Retro Flower Die cut 7 of the medium flowers from Couture Creations Sew Jo Pattern Paper Pad.

Then pinch all the petals on all flowers.. bend petal upwards on all flower with the exception of one.
Bend the petals on this flower too but do it upside down.. touch each petal of this flower with glue and squeeze together to form a bud as below.

Layer the rest of the flowers alternately adhering the bud in the centre.
repeat for a second rose and pop these on your project. I have also used the Couture Creations Madeline Ornatmental Lace Dies Waterlily and cut it in half to tuck behind my roses with some gauze.

Thanks for Visiting... Don't forget to check out the latest addition of Creative Inspiration Magazine.

Keep on Creating!
